Tenara^© PTFE's inherent chemical resistance insures it will not rot or mildew and prevents deterioration due to cleaning solutions, motor oils, and other destructive substances. More importantly PTFE is unaffected by ultraviolet radiation and will not degrade from continuous sun exposure.
